Why Cockapoos? My love for the Cocker Spaniel started with Lady & The Tramp. Lady was a wonderful family dog, even though her family was pushing her aside due to their new bundles impending arrival, she was still there for them and had a newfound responsibility she placed on herself of taking care of their new baby. As a child I was high strung and struggled with anxiety. When we moved across the country to be with my Grandmother (among other things), my confidence took a hit. But there was always something magical about having a dog close. It was the only thing that calmed me down without a doubt. I remember at a very young age having moments of anxiety and crying out for my dog. Within minutes my heart rate was slowed down and I could start thinking clearly. We bought our first Cocker Spaniel when I was 16 and not long after we added a Cockapoo as well. It was a wonderful experience to be able to see the difference in a Cocker Spaniel and a Cockapoo. The Cocker Spaniel was almost exactly true to how Lady acted in Lady & The Tramp. The Cockapoo was all of that and more. She was a wonderful lap dog, a trail riding companion, and a fantastic listener. She made it her life’s work to help heal my anxiety and to help me push towards new situations. Years later my husband and I have created a miniature version of myself named Grant. He is 5 years old and a spitting image of my emotional state as a child. I have cried many happy Mom tears seeing how much our business effects him. His very own Cockapoo, Natalia, has made a huge change in his confidence. And now when I see that he’s starting to have an anxiety issue I plop Natalia near him and within minutes he calms down. It is my hope and prayer that I can provide Cockapoos to the people that need them in their lives to help their anxiety and broken hearts. A bond with a dog can do so much more than we initially expect.
